Firmware Upgrades for Updating Communications Modules and Meters

Silver Spring’s UtilityIQ® Firmware Upgrader allows utilities to upgrade the firmware on Silver Spring Communications Modules in Silver Spring Access Points, Relays and Bridge family, and our partners’ meters. Utilities can also use the tool to upgrade meter firmware, generated by meter vendors, directly from within UtilityIQ.

Silver Spring updates firmware images to incorporate new functionality, and Firmware Upgrader facilitates these changes in three steps. First, Silver Spring uploads a firmware image to the application and adds important metadata. Second, it distributes that firmware image to a set of specified devices, installs the new firmware, and verifies that the installation was successful. Finally, utilities can audit the firmware version of network devices on a regular basis to ensure compliance.
