Based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) Energy Corp. provides electricity to approximately 30,000 square miles in Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. With Silver Spring as the foundation for its Positive Energy® smart grid Project, OG&E allows customers to receive real-time information about the amount of energy they consume – hourly and daily. Silver Spring, Greenbox Technology (now part of Silver Spring), and OG&E partnered to allow customers in the project to monitor their energy usage by the minute and adjust habits accordingly.

OG&E selected the location due to the area’s historically high number of service calls, which routinely hit 10,000 per year. Using the Silver Spring network, OG&E was able to respond to service requests and remotely reconnect service following outages in less than 10 seconds.
