Silver Spring Networks (SSN) is hiring for the position of Senior Firmware Quality Assurance Engineer in our Redwood City, California office.

What you will be doing

The Senior Firmware QA engineer will play a critical role in the development lifecycle of Silver Spring Networks’ product offerings.

Essential functions

  • Be responsible for the testing of firmware and involved in the test planning, and executing tests of firmware for embedded processors
  • Working with engineering (software, hardware) and operations team members to create test processes, test specifications, test cases for sanity, integration, regression, alpha, beta and production testing
  • Responsible for building and managing production firmware releases
  • Responsible for reporting and tracking bugs, debugging problems
  • Responsible for executing performance and stress tests

Qualifications

  • Experience with different wireless technologies and standards including WAN (CDMA, 1xRTT), WiFi (802.11) networks, SNMP, and wireless routing protocols
  • Experience with setting up and extending automated test suites
  • Hands-on experience with wireless testing: devices, applications or networks - preferably RF networks in 900MHz
  • Experience working with packet sniffers, and protocol analyzers
  • Experience using oscilloscopes and embedded processors
  • Knowledge of digital electronics
  • An understanding of testing, software release engineering, build management including source control, bug tracking, and system level testing for product release to customer
  • Experience in writing/debugging C, and scripting experience (Perl/Python/Ruby, Bash)

This position requires 5-10 years of experience in software, systems and integration testing of hardware and software in wireless networking and requires knowledge of network protocols.
